The federal government has officially confirmed the Eid ul Adha holidays Pakistan, following a prior Eid holidays 2025 announcement issued by the Cabinet Division on December 23, 2024. According to the gazette notification, public holidays for Eid ul Adha 2025 will be observed on June 7 (Saturday), June 8 (Sunday), and June 9 (Monday).
Zil Hajj Moon Sighting Pakistan 2025
In line with the Islamic lunar calendar, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has now confirmed the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon. As per the committee’s chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, May 29, 2025 has been declared as the first day of Zil Hajj. This aligns precisely with earlier astronomical predictions and supports the expected Eid ul Adha date of Saturday, June 7.
The moon sighting announcement came after a key meeting held in Islamabad, attended by representatives from SUPARCO and the Pakistan Meteorological Department. SUPARCO had earlier forecasted the birth of the new moon on May 27 at 8:02 AM PST, but noted that it would not be visible to the naked eye or even telescopes on the same day. Hence, May 29 was anticipated as the beginning of Zil Hajj.
Eid ul Adha Holidays Pakistan
While the Eid holidays notification ensures three public holidays, the fixed dates have sparked mixed reactions as they partially overlap with the weekend. However, there’s still a chance that the federal government might announce an additional holiday on Friday, June 6, to accommodate Hajj day and allow citizens to enjoy a long Eid weekend.
If this happens, many will welcome the extended break as an opportunity to travel, reunite with family, or simply celebrate Eid ul Adha with more ease and comfort.
For now, Pakistanis can look forward to at least three days of official leave, with Eid ul Adha holidays Pakistan beginning on June 7. Any potential update regarding a fourth holiday will likely be communicated closer to the date, so keep an eye on official channels for any further announcements.
