The Pakistan Meteorological Department has clarified that it has not made any predictions about the date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 in Pakistan. This comes in response to several media outlets that cited the department, forecasting Eid-ul-Fitr to be on April 11.
According to these reports, the holy month of Ramazan, which began on March 12, will see Pakistanis observing 30 fasts. The sighting of the Shawwal moon, expected on April 10, will confirm the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
An official from the Met Office in Islamabad emphasized that their role is limited to weather forecasts, while the announcement of Eid dates falls under the purview of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The Cabinet Division had previously released a list of holidays for the current year. As per this list, Pakistanis can look forward to a five-day break from April 10 to April 14, coinciding with the weekend, marking the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in Pakistan 2024.

Meanwhile, in the UAE, residents are preparing for a potential extended holiday as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, potentially offering up to nine days of leisure time in April. The sighting of the crescent moon in the UAE on March 10 marked the beginning of Ramazan, with March 11 being recognized as the first day of the holy month.
The duration of Ramazan, either 29 or 30 days, will determine the timing of Eid-ul-Fitr. As per the UAE government’s holiday schedule, residents can anticipate a break from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3 to commemorate Eid-ul-Fitr. If Ramazan spans 30 days, Eid will fall on April 10, granting a nine-day holiday from April 8 to April 12, including weekend days.
