Eight Killed, Including Newlyweds, in Gas Cylinder Blast at Wedding House in Islamabad

At least eight people, including a newlywed couple, were killed and 11 others injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a wedding house in Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad, during the early hours of Sunday, officials said.

The explosion took place in a residential area within the G-7/2 sector and there was a wedding event being held in the house shortly before 2:00 am. The blast resulted in panic in the locality and a damage to a number of houses in the locality.

Rescue services and police hurried to the location and transported the injured to the local hospitals. Officials reported that the state of some of the wounded is still serious.

Primary investigations indicate that the explosion was as a result of a gas cylinder, but additional investigations are in progress to establish the actual events of the accident.
