Election 2018: 136 cases Registered over Violation of ECP code of conduct

Punjab IG Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has claimed that 136 cases of violation of ECP code of conduct have been registered so far on Thursday.

Provincial IG briefed media about the cases of ECP code of conduct. He said,

“Investigations were conducted against 946 political party workers, including 429 from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), 134 from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and 22 from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), across Punjab.”

Another 361 supporters of independent candidates and other political parties were alleged over violation of ECP code of conduct.

The Punjab IG also claimed that, “65 workers of different political parties have been detained under the Goonda Act.”

Another report claims that two PTI workers were alleged for using fireworks during party leader Aleem Khan’s corner meeting in NA-129.

Police also arrested two guards of PTI candidate Bilal Aslam of PP-163 constituency for display of arms.

Section 144 is imposed in the city; therefore, display of arms and fireworks is banned in pursuance of ECP code of conduct.

A returning officer has summoned PML-N candidate from Muzaffargarh Haroon Sultan for giving obnoxious remarks like it is ‘haraam’ for women to cast votes.
