RAWALPINDI: ECP constituted Appellate tribunal rejects nomination of former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from NA-57 Murree.
The former premier’s nomination from his home constituency, NA-57 Murree were challenged in tribunal. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had his nomination rejected from the home constituency after tribunal had reserved its verdict on Monday.
The petitioner, Masood Ahmed Abbasi had stated that the PML-N leader had plundered the national exchequer.
He added that the former premier during his tenure as the head of the state took money for his son’s Umrah from the treasury. He alleged that an amount of Rs1 billion was taken from the taxes of citizens.
The petition also stated that Abbasi had also supported PML-N supremo, Nawaz Sharif’s controversial statement.
The statement that alleged Pakistan’s involvement in Mumbai Attacks by Nawaz was supported by Abbasi. Petition states this had caused damage to the national security of the country.
The petition had also accused the former PM to not detail his assets correctly on his nomination.
Along with that the petitioner also said that Khaqan Abbasi had not even given statement in support of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui who is imprisoned in U.S.
