- Madhubala’s transfer to Safari Park is expected to take place within the next month.
- The sanctuary is already prepared and ready to welcome Madhubala.
In a heartwarming development, Karachi Zoo’s beloved elephant, Madhubala, is preparing to move to a new sanctuary in Safari Park, courtesy of Four Paws. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has finalized preparations for the transfer, which is expected to take place soon.
Four Paws has set up a state-of-the-art sanctuary within Safari Park, specifically designed to provide Madhubala with a comfortable and natural environment. The enclosure is already home to two other elephants, Malaika and Sonia, and Madhubala’s arrival will bring the total number of elephants to three.
To ensure a smooth transition, Madhubala’s enclosure in Karachi Zoo has been equipped with a container to train her for the move. The elephant has been entering and exiting the container three to four times a day, signaling her readiness for the transfer.
The decision to relocate Madhubala was made after the passing of her companion, Noor Jahan, in April last year. With the support of Four Paws and KMC, Madhubala will soon join her new herd in Safari Park, where she will receive the care and social interaction she needs.
“The sanctuary for Madhubala in Safari Park is being developed with the support of Four Paws. We are excited to provide a new home for our beloved elephant, and we are confident that she will thrive in her new surroundings.” – KMC Officials
