RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General (retd) Asad Durrani, former chief ISI, has been summoned to GHQ over his book whom he co-authored with former RAW Chief AS Dulat named ‘Spy Chronicles’.
Former ISI Chief, Asad Durrani had recently co-authored a book with AS Dulat, who is the former chief of RAW. RAW is the top spy agency of rival state India and our relation with them is not exactly that of friends. Thus, it has caused controversial situation for the author of ‘Spy Chronicles’. However; last Friday, ISPR had tweeted out a summon for the ex-ISI Chief to Rawalpindi General Headquarters.
After the backlash and criticism, the media wing of military had sent out a tweet. The post on twitter read that Lt. Gen. Asad Durrani has been summoned to Rawalpindi GHQ. He will be asked to explain his views in the book “Spy Chronicles”. The tweet by Major Gen Asif Ghafoor says that the his views are taken as violation of Military Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct applies on all serving and retired personnel of the military forces.
He has become a target of criticism by many people over this including major politicians. Just last Friday, Nawaz Sharif had targeted the retired Lt. Gen. Asad Durrani demanding an NSC meeting over the issue.

While former chairman Senate, Raza Rabbani had also criticized the book writing. He said that it was a revelation knowing the relations between both countries. He said that our relations with the rival state is at an all time low. While both the former Spy Chiefs of the rival states were writing books together, he added. He further stated that if this was a politician it would have been another story.
