Fake Accounts Case: Saqib Nisar denied orders to place Zardari on ECL

Rawalpindi: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar said that he did not give orders to place Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur on ECL.

CJP Saqib Nisar said that names of Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur weren’t included in ECL on his orders. However, names of both PPP leaders were placed on ECL after founding alleged links with fake accounts in different banks.

Earlier, CJP Saqib Nisar also stopped FIA from summoning both PPP leaders till Pakistan Election 2018. He said that now no one can make excuses that elections were rigged. He further added that before General Election 2018, all suspects except Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur should be investigated.

Earlier, Farhatullah Babar revealed that PPP chairman will not appear before the Supreme Court today. He said that no notice has been given to him to appear before the court in person. Farhatullah Babar further added that lawyers are currently analyzing the matter. Senator Farooq H Naek, Zardari’s legal advisor, represented him in the court.

The FIA registered a case in Karachi a week ago over money laundering scam worth Rs35 billion. It detained Stock Exchange of Pakistan executive Hussain Lawai, said to be a close friend of Asif Ali Zardari two days earlier.

Investigative authorities keep up that 32 individuals, including Lawai, are under interrogation for laundering billions of rupees through imaginary ledgers.
