The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan has officially withdrawn its earlier 48-hour NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) concerning the temporary closure of Pakistani airspace, paving the way for the resumption of normal flight operations across the country. Major cities including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad have seen flight schedules returning to normal.
According to a fresh NOTAM issued by the CAA, the previous restrictions have been lifted, and both domestic and international flights are now allowed to operate through previously affected air corridors.
Flight Operations Resume After Temporary Suspension
The airspace closure was initially implemented as a precaution due to rising regional tensions. The suspension had led to the halt of all inbound and outbound flights at major airports including Jinnah International (Karachi), Allama Iqbal International (Lahore), Islamabad International, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Quetta.
Islamabad International Airport was entirely shut down for flight operations, with several flights being diverted to Karachi. Passengers were advised by authorities not to proceed to airports and to await further updates from their airlines.
Airlines Advise Caution Despite Reopening
Though the airspace has reopened, the CAA stated that final decisions regarding specific flight schedules and routing remain at the discretion of individual airlines.
“In view of the evolving regional situation, passengers are advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for updated information regarding their flights,” read an official statement from the Civil Aviation Authority.
PIA and Other Airlines Provide Passenger Guidelines
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had earlier announced the cancellation of all its flights for a 12-hour period due to the prevailing security environment. A PIA spokesperson advised passengers to remain in contact with PIA call centers for the latest flight updates, stating, “The passengers will be informed about the evolving situation in due course.”
Sialkot International Airport also faced a temporary closure, with its spokesperson confirming that operations had been suspended purely as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.
Travelers Advised to Stay Updated
With the airspace now officially reopened, authorities are urging travelers to remain vigilant and stay updated through official airline channels. While operations at key airports have normalized, slight adjustments to flight timings may still occur as airlines assess ongoing regional developments.
