Free Wifi in Islamabad: Government Confirms 30 Hotspots by December 2025
The government has announced free wifi in Islamabad. Officials confirmed that the city will get 30 public Wi-Fi hotspots by the end of December 2025. The National Telecommunication Corporation told the National Assembly IT Committee that work is moving on schedule.
Free WiFi in Islamabad Locations List
Free WiFi in Islamabad locations list includes metro bus stations, parks, markets, and government buildings. Places like F-6, F-7, Fatima Jinnah Park, Lakeview Park, Daman-e-Koh, and the Sunday bazaars are already in the plan. This is where you will likely see the first phase of free wifi in Islamabad.
The monthly operational cost stands near PKR 3.5 million. CDA and NTC said they are building a sustainable model that supports long-term service. They also signed a contract for new Wi-Fi equipment with Silicon Technologies, so hardware procurement has entered the active stage.

Ministers explained that they cannot offer blanket citywide coverage because of commercial constraints from telecom operators. So the focus stays on selected public spaces. They also hinted at expanding this project after public testing and usage feedback.
Officials said this first phase will shape future expansions. They plan to add more Wi-Fi zones later if demand grows. This makes free wifi in Islamabad a step-by-step rollout rather than a one-time launch.
Public suggestions are open through CDA channels. The feedback will decide locations for the next set of hotspots.
