Urgent Passports for Overseas Pakistanis Now Issued Within a Week, Announces Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi
In a major move aimed at addressing the long-standing concerns of overseas Pakistanis, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that urgent passports will now issued within seven days. This announcement made during Naqvi’s recent visit to Passport and NADRA centers in London, where he outlined the new policy and its implementation.
New Passport Issuance Timelines
Minister Naqvi highlighted that under the new directive, normal passports will be issue within 30 days, a significant improvement from the current waiting period of approximately four months. Urgent passports, which previously took about one and a half months to be issued, will now be processed within just seven days. This policy will uniformly applied to all Pakistani missions abroad to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Monitoring and Accountability
To ensure the timely delivery of passports, the Interior Minister has established a monitoring cell. This cell will overseen by Personal Staff Officer to the Interior Minister, ASP Shehrbano, who will monitor the process and address any issues that arise. Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of adhering to these timelines, warning that strict action would taken against any non-compliance.
Complaint Mechanism for Delays
Overseas Pakistanis who do not receive their passports within the specified time frame can lodge complaints via email at [email protected]. This step intended to provide a direct and efficient channel for addressing grievances and ensuring accountability.
Positive Feedback from Pakistani Nationals
During his visit, Minister Naqvi interacted with Pakistani nationals at the centers, who expressed their satisfaction with the performance of NADRA. The Interior Minister commended NADRA for their efforts and assured the community of continued improvements in service delivery.
