The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted moderate rainfall for Karachi today. Currently, Karachi experiences partly cloudy skies, along with warm and humid conditions.
According to the PMD’s weather report, Karachi’s temperature is currently 32 degrees Celsius, with humidity reaching 70% in the morning. The heat index makes it feel as hot as 41 degrees Celsius. Today, the maximum temperature is expected to peak at 37 degrees Celsius.
Earlier forecasts from the PMD had alerted Karachi residents and those in other parts of Sindh to prepare for potential thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning as the monsoon season begins today, July 8.
Under the influence of monsoon winds, widespread rainfall is anticipated across various regions, including Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Dadu, and Jacobabad.
In response to the monsoon predictions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee to manage potential emergencies. During a review meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized proactive measures to address flood situations, pledging personal oversight of the emergency response.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of disseminating advanced monsoon forecasts through national broadcasts, particularly to aid farmers. He assured full government support during emergencies and urged swift assistance to affected areas.
All relevant institutions have been instructed to maintain heightened readiness, with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) directed to collaborate closely with provincial governments and other agencies.
