Sindh government to announce budget 2024-25 for the upcoming fiscal year tomorrow. This important session will be held in the Sindh Assembly at 3 PM, with the presentation by Sindh’s Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah. Earlier in the day, at 9 AM, the Sindh Cabinet will convene to approve the budget before its presentation.
The anticipated budget for 2024-25 for Sindh is set to be around 2300 billion rupees. Of this, more than 725 billion rupees are proposed to be allocated for development projects. This budget is expected to reflect the promises made by the People’s Party in their election manifesto, with a strong focus on clean water supply projects and a significant proposal to provide free electricity up to 300 units to offer relief to the public.
Instead of launching new development schemes, the budget aims to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects. However, there are plans for some new development schemes under public-private partnerships. Additionally, the budget might introduce new taxes and adjustments to existing taxes.
The focus on free electricity and clean water supply is set to address essential public needs, aligning with the People’s Party’s commitments. This approach of balancing ongoing and new projects, along with potential tax changes, aims to address both immediate needs and long-term development for Sindh.
