Islamabad: Khursheed Shah, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, said that the government is backtracking itself from its commitment about the caretaker PM.
Khursheed Shah said that the name of caretaker PM would be decided through the parliamentary committee. He said that the government is not fulfilling the earlier commitment. He further added that no one is authorized to reject their names for the caretaker PM. Khursheed Shah said that names will be sent to the parliamentary committee and no one can reject them. He said that the government and opposition are trying to finalize the name through the Parliament.
PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and opposition leader Khursheed Shah have also met five times before. However, no name is finalized yet. Another meeting will be held between these two leaders in this week.
According to sources, former PM Nawaz Sharif is not interested in the appointment of any bureaucrat or retired justice as the caretaker PM. However, it is expected that the government would nominate former State Bank governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, and Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk as the caretaker PM. On the other side, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has already finalized the names of Jalil Abbas Jilani and former PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf for the caretaker PM.
