Reliable sources confirm that some public sector jobs will be phased out in the coming days. The government has started taking steps based on the recommendations from the Right-Sizing Committee. They have decided to stop hiring for positions like peons, security guards, gardeners, and cleaners.
Sources further say that jobs like sanitary workers, record sorters, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers will also be cut. Not only will these jobs be eliminated, but the government has also banned new recruitment for these positions. The Federal Establishment Division has already issued instructions to all ministries and divisions to implement these changes. This decision was made in accordance with the federal cabinet’s approval.
The government has told ministries not to request new positions or try to fill any current vacancies for these jobs. The cleaning, plumbing, and gardening sectors in federal institutions will be outsourced in the future, meaning that ministries and departments won’t hire for these roles directly anymore.
Vacant positions will now be classified as “dying posts.” General services that are not essential or core to government operations will also be managed through outsourcing. The government’s Right-Sizing Committee has put forth these recommendations, aiming to streamline operations and reduce costs.
As the government focuses on making departments leaner, this step signals a significant shift in how certain sectors will operate going forward.
