Government will start crackdown against electricity theft, ECC

Islamabad: Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) announced today that the government will start crackdown against the electricity theft.

ECC revealed that the government will begin major crackdown against electricity theft. However, the committee was headed by Finance Minister Asad Umar.

ECC also agreed to terminate all illegal electricity connections within 90 days along with the crackdown against electricity theft. However, the decision of prepaid electric meters installation was also taken.


The committee also passed the resolution to take strict action against power sector defaulters including government departments and ministries.

Several people and organization are involved in the electricity theft by utilizing illegal connections and other unfair means.

Fertilizer Factories’ operations will resume immediately

ECC decided to resume operations of fertilizer factories immediately. It also resolved that the fertilizer’s domestic demand will be meet with the current operating factories.

However, in today’s meeting, the committee discussed that the issue of circular debt will also presented before the PM Imran Khan.
