The Government of Pakistan introduced the Apna Meter Apni Reading app in collaboration with power distribution companies (DISCOs) such as LESCO and FESCO. The app allows electricity consumers to submit their meter readings using their mobile phones, replacing the traditional manual meter reading process.
The Apna Meter Apni Reading app enables users to take a photo of their electricity meter and upload the reading directly to their respective DISCO. The initiative designed to increase transparency, reduce billing disputes, and address overbilling issues. Consumers using the app will receive monthly bills based on the readings they submit, ensuring accuracy and minimizing the chance of estimated billing.
The app supports multiple languages, including Urdu, English, Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, and Balochi, to accommodate users across Pakistan. Rolled out initially for 1-phase residential users, with commercial and 3-phase consumers to included in later phases.
The initiative was first announced by LESCO in April 2025, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approving a nationwide rollout (excluding K.Electric) in June 2025. The Power Division instructed to finalize the full implementation plan within one month. A Rs. 316 million awareness campaign allocated to educate the public about the new system.
The Apna Meter Apni Reading app is part of a broader digital transformation of the power sector, integrating tools such as the Power Smart App, CCMS+, and Lineman Mobile Solution. While the official app release date and store listings are pending, users will soon be able to download and register through the app by entering their account details and submitting meter photos for billing.
