Lahore is dealing with some serious smog issues, and because of that, a “Green Lockdown” has been put in place in certain parts of the city. This means construction activities and the use of motorcycle rickshaws are restricted. Also, commercial generators won’t be allowed.
In the areas under lockdown, wedding halls can stay open until 10 p.m., but BBQ spots and open food points must shut by 8 p.m. Plus, any food points using coal or wood will be closed.
This “Green Lockdown” is in effect on Davis Road, Egerton Road, Durand Road, Kashmir Road, and Abbott Road. It also includes the area from Shimla Pahari to Gulistan Cinema, the Railway Headquarters, and Empress Road. Further, the lockdown extends from Durand Road to Allama Iqbal Road and around Queen Mary College Road.
What is Green Lockdown?
A “Green Lockdown” is a special measure taken to tackle environmental issues like smog. It focuses on reducing pollution by limiting activities that contribute to poor air quality, such as construction, burning coal or wood, and using certain types of vehicles. The goal is to improve air quality and protect the health of residents by controlling sources of pollution.
So, if you’re in Lahore, be prepared for these changes and stay safe amidst the smog. It’s a step towards a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.
