Gul Plaza Karachi Fire Incident: 30 Bodies Recovered from Shop, Death Toll Reached 61

Authorities recovered 30 bodies from a single shop on the mezzanine floor, pushing the Gul Plaza fire death toll to 61. Search operations continue in Karachi’s devastated commercial building.

Rescue teams recovered 30 bodies from a shop inside Karachi’s Gul Plaza on Wednesday. This discovery raised the total number of victims in the Gul Plaza fire to 61. Officials confirmed the bodies were found during an ongoing search operation.

The bodies were recovered from a crockery shop named Dubai Crockery on the mezzanine floor of Gul Plaza. DIG South Asad Raza said all 30 victims had locked themselves inside the shop to escape the fire. Their last mobile phone locations also traced back to the same spot.

Rescue authorities temporarily halted operations on the third floor after receiving information about people trapped on the mezzanine level. Shopkeepers had earlier alerted officials about possible survivors and victims in that area of the building.

Officials stopped debris removal to focus on body recovery. Teams continue to clear the site with caution. The Karachi fire incident at Gul Plaza now stands as one of the deadliest commercial building disasters in the city.
