The Hazara Community announced to disperse sit-ins in Quetta after meeting with COAS Gen. Javed Qamar Bajwa. The sit-ins were against the targeted killing of Hazara Shia community of Quetta.
The Hazara community of Quetta has faced persecution since a long time now at hands of terrorists. The community has been protesting since a month now over the killing of their people over religious sect difference. They had demanded to meet Chief of Army Staff, General Javed Qamar Bajwa to ask him to assure them for protection of their community. The COAS had arrived in Quetta last night to meet the Leaders of the Hazara Community according to a statement by the ISPR.
General Javed Qamar Bajwa met the leaders of the protesting community at Tuesday night. Representatives of the Hazara Community included provincial Law Minister Syed Muhammad Agha Raza, religious scholars Allamas Juma Asadi and Hashim Mousavi, former National Assembly member Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Qayyum Changezi, and Dawood Agha.
The leaders told the COAS of their reservations against the targeted killing of their brethren. The Army Chief recited Fateha for the deceased of the Hazara Community. He then assured that the culprits behind these acts shall suffer twice as much as the community is facing.
The COAS said that every Pakistani regardless of religion, sect, language or caste has to stay strong and united to defeat hostile forces trying to divide us. Chief of Army Staff said that we shall defeat hostile attempts through national unity. Anything and everything which is for the improvement of security of people of the country shall be done.
