The rain emergency is declared as heavy rain severely affected the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Heavy rain in Islamabad Rawalpindi recorded as both cities up till observed 162mm and 202mm rainfall respectively. The Nullah Lai’s water level also raised by 6.5ft and enforced district administration to take preventive measures against possible flooding.
In Islamabad, major part of city came under darkness as over 70 feeders are tripped. Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) revealed that they are doing repair work to restore electricity in affected areas.
Heavy rain in Islamabad Rawalpindi also enforced authorities to open Rawal Dam spillways due to high water levels. In addition, authorities asked people residing in low lying areas and dams to stay alert. Heavy rain along with gusty wind is expected at scattered places in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, Kashmir, Kohat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Islamabad. However, isolated places in Peshawar, Bannu, Zhob, Bahawalpur divisions, Malakand, Mardan, D.I. Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Mirpurkhas.
