Heavy rain in Karachi lashed the metropolis late Sunday night, leaving large parts of the city plunged into darkness owing to a power outage.
Heavy rain in Karachi affected areas including Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Malir Cantt, Defence, Clifton, as well as neighborhoods in the vicinity of the Karachi airport and near Shahrah-e-Faisal, I.I. Chundrigar Road.
On the other hand, localities with no electricity comprised Gulistan-e-Johar, Model Colony, Saddar, North Karachi, and Orangi Town.
A spokesperson for K-Electric, the city’s sole power supplier, confirmed that there was a power breakdown in “few areas of Karachi due to rain”.
There is a “power outage on the PMTs [pad-mounted transformers] in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Karachi, Orangi Town, and Garden”, they said, adding that power would “resume soon the affected areas”.
“Our team is busy working to resume power in the affected areas.”
