Heavy Rainfall Triggers Flooding in Sindh: Schools Shut Down

Intermittent rainfall continues to batter various cities across Sindh, including Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar, and Hyderabad, causing widespread disruption and inconvenience. The relentless downpour has led to significant water accumulation in low-lying areas and roads, leaving residents struggling to cope with the aftermath.

In Mirpurkhas, two days of continuous rain have left several areas waterlogged, yet the drainage pumps have remained unused for four days. Satellite Town, Pak Colony, and Latif Town are among the worst-hit areas, with rainwater seeping into homes. Nearby colonies such as Bhan Singhabad, Hameed Pura, and Malik Riaz Colony are also grappling with flooding. The situation in the DHQ Hospital is dire, with water leaking into various wards and the admin block, forcing most patients to abandon the hospital and return home.

Badin District has also been hit hard, with two days of light to heavy rainfall leading to severe waterlogging in low-lying areas. In Tharparkar, Mithi, Islamkot, and Nagarparkar, intermittent rains have submerged multiple regions, while Hyderabad is experiencing continuous heavy rainfall, resulting in flooded roads, waterlogged areas, and disrupted electricity supplies.

In Nawabshah and Jamshoro, educational institutions will remain closed for three days, as per the official notifications.
