PTI Chief Imran Khan has requested NAB through his counsel to grant him more time to appear in person due to his busy schedule in helicopter misuse case.
NAB has started investigation into alleged helicopter misuse of the KP government, causing loss to the government and had summoned Imran Khan on July 18.
Imran Khan’s counsel Babar Awan responded by saying that the PTI chairman welcomed NAB’s initiative to investigate the case against him. He further said, “Mr. Khan will further empower NAB if he is voted to power in upcoming elections.”
Babar Awan said Mr. Imran Khan is currently busy in Election 2018 campaign; hence his appearance in person before the NAB somehow difficult. However, he assured that the PTI chairman would appear before NAB on priority basis right after the elections 2018.
Mr. Awan further requested, if NAB finds it feasible, then August 7 should be fixed as the next date of case hearing.
PTI Stance on Imran Khan’s alleged helicopter misuse case of KP government
In February this year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had clarified suspected helicopter misuse by PTI chief Imran Khan. They turned down all allegations on him by stating that the government-owned helicopters were never used for his personal use.
In a statement, former PTI-led KP government said that Imran Khan accompanied the ministers and advisers using those helicopters for the official tours only.
“These helicopters were used on 39 occasions in last four and half years,” the provincial government officials said in the statement on Feb 4, 2018.
The official statement shared details of 39 official government trips, as it was said, that helicopters were used for around 75 flying hours against fuel charges of approximately Rs2.1 million in last four and half years.
