Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of the Honhaar Scholarship Program, an ambitious initiative with a budget of Rs 130 billion aimed at empowering deserving students across Punjab. Over 68,000 applications have already been received from students studying in 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges, as revealed by the Punjab Higher Education Department.
This scholarship initiative is a pivotal step towards supporting higher education in Punjab, offering full tuition coverage for undergraduate programs spanning four to five years in 68 disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria for Honhaar Scholarship Program 2024
Students seeking to apply must meet the following requirements:
- Domicile: Applicants must hold a domicile from any district in Punjab.
- Age Limit: Applicants should not exceed 22 years of age as of the closing date.
- Enrollment Status:
- Must be enrolled in selected disciplines at eligible universities or colleges for the fall session of 2024.
- Newly enrolled MBBS and BDS students for the year 2024 are also eligible.
- Family Income: Monthly family income should be less than Rs 300,000, supported by an affidavit.
- Minimum Academic Percentage:
- Medical Colleges: 80% or above.
- Top Universities: 80% or above.
- Public Sector Universities:
- 75% or above for Science disciplines.
- 70% or above for Arts and Social Sciences.
- HED Colleges:
- 65% or above for Science disciplines.
- 60% or above for Arts and Social Sciences.
Scholarships for 30,000 Students Annually
In alignment with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision, the Honhaar Scholarship Program will benefit 30,000 students annually. The program is specifically designed to facilitate higher education for students from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring their access to quality education without financial constraints.

On November 18, the Punjab government expanded the Maryam Ki Dastak program to 32 districts, following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This initiative aims to enhance service delivery through trained representatives, creating a citizen-friendly experience.
Newly included districts in the program are Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lodhran, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Gujrat, and Khushab.
