Honor Killing in Balochistan: Chief Justice Summons Top Officials Over Couple’s Murder

Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Justice Rozi Khan Bareech, taken notice of the Honor killing incident of a couple over a love marriage. He summoned the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and Inspector General of Police Balochistan on 22 July 2025.

This shooting incident was revealed when a video circulating on social media captured a group of armed people in an undisclosed place shooting a man and woman. The video put the Balochistan government to immediate action during which a case was registered and an operation launched.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, confirmed through a statement that 11 suspects arrested so far. He said the operation will continue until all involved are arrested. He added that the state supports the victims and legal proceedings are in progress.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said in a press conference at Karachi Press Club that, according to unverified information, the incident took place near Eid-ul-Adha. He also stated that the bodies of the victims have not yet been found. CTD and police personnel are currently deployed in the area.
