In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing public safety, the government of Islamabad has introduced a mandatory three-day training program for individuals seeking arms licenses. This initiative, orchestrated by the Federal Police, set to revolutionize the process of obtaining an arms license in the federal capital.
Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akbar Nasir, mandates comprehensive training by the Federal Police for arms license applicants. Successful completion is now a prerequisite for eligibility, promoting responsible and informed gun ownership.
A three-day training program will be held at the police shooting range. It equips candidates with vital firearm skills and safety knowledge, aligning with the government’s commitment to addressing terrorism challenges and enhancing state and citizen security.

To facilitate this process, the government has outlined a streamlined procedure for obtaining an arms license in 2023:
- Fill up Arms License Form:
Interested individuals must complete the designated form. - Attach ID Card Copy:
A copy of the applicant’s ID card should attached to the completed form. - Police Verification:
Submit the filled-up Arms License Form to the local Police Station for verification. - Appearance Before DC:
The applicant, accompanied by a copy of their CNIC, should appear before the Deputy Commissioner (DC). - DC Approval:
The DC will review the application and, upon approval, issue an order for the issuance of the Arms License. - Ticket Pasting:
Following the DC’s approval, the applicant must affix the provided ticket to the Arms License Form. - Submission to Arms Licensing:
Submit the completed forms to the Arms Licensing office. - License Issuance:
Once verified, a copy of the arms license will issued, allowing the applicant to purchase a firearm from an authorized arms dealer.
