The National Highway and Motorway Authority (NHMA) has unveiled a convenient solution for hassle-free travel on Pakistan’s motorways. Effective February 5, 2024, all vehicles traversing the motorway network will require M-Tag registration, as declared by NHMA authorities.
With a primary goal of reducing congestion and wait times at toll booths, this strategic move aims to streamline traffic flow across major motorways such as the Peshawar-Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M1), Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway (M4), Hakla-DI Khan Motorway (M14), and more.
Obtaining an M-Tag is a simple process. Motorists can visit nearby customer care centers equipped with their vehicle registration documents and CNICs. By adhering to this new regulation, travelers can swiftly navigate through motorway toll plazas without the inconvenience of queuing up for toll tax payment.
In support of this initiative, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) and NHMA have issued comprehensive guidelines to assist motorists. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to obtain your M-Tag for seamless motorway travel:
Step 1:
Locate a nearby booth, typically situated near major toll plazas and service areas along the motorways.
Step 2:
Present your original CNIC along with a copy of your vehicle’s registration certificate for the application process.
Step 3:
Complete the application form available at the booth, providing all necessary information.
Step 4:
Submit the application form and accompanying documents to the booth attendant for verification.
Step 5:
Upon approval, receive your M-Tag, which will be affixed to your vehicle’s windshield, ensuring easy passage through toll plazas.
For added convenience, motorists can monitor their M-Tag status and recharge balances using the NHA’s One Network mobile application.
By embracing this innovative M-Tag system, travelers can look forward to smoother journeys and enhanced efficiency on Pakistan’s motorways, marking a significant step towards modernizing the nation’s transportation infrastructure.
