Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) suspended government’s decision to appoint Amjad Javed Saleemi as Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP).
ECP suspended PTI government’s decision to replace IG Punjab Tahir Khan with Amjad Javed Saleemi. Earlier on Tuesday (today), Establishment Division issued notification about appointment of Amjad Javed Saleemi after IG Punjab Tahir Khan removal.
Justice (R) Sardar Muhammad Raza, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), summoned the details from the Election Commission Secretariat related to the removal of Tahir Khan.
In addition, ECP also wrote to the secretary establishment to stop the transfer.
The ECP officials revealed that IG Punjab Tahir Khan cannot be replaced due to the upcoming Pakistan by-election 2018.
PTI leader and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed that Tahir Khan was removed from his post as he did not obey the orders of government.
