The Islamabad High Court has demised a petition for a diplomatic passport for Nawaz Sharif, leader of PML-N. The petition as stated by the CJ was untrustworthy and unimportant.

The petition was dissolved by Chief Justice Athar Minallah after putting a fine of 5000 on the petitioner. Advocate Naeem Haider Panjutha filed the petition on Thursday in IHC. He referred to the media reports that said Nawaz was being issued a diplomatic passport. He further stated that the diplomatic passports are given to foreign affairs secretaries and the interior. The applicant argued Nawaz was an absconder, convicted by NAB, and issuing a diplomatic passport would be a disgrace for the nation.

No evidence was challenged in the court against Nawaz Sharif. To which the petitioner’s counsel does not prove evidence hence the order was rejected due to no proof of order, notification, or direction being presented in the court. CJ Athar Minallah commented that the laws are made to deal with absconders. Moreover, CJ said courts decisions are not settled on lone press reports.
