IHC put fine on NAB for wasting court’s time in Sharif’s plea

Islamabad High Court (IHC) fined National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over accusation of using delay tactics in the plea of Nawaz Sharif and his family.

IHC imposed a fine on NAB for constantly asking adjournment in Nawaz Sharif’s plea against the suspension of Avenfield verdict. Justice Maingul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Athar Minallah imposed Rs 10,000 fine on NAB. However, the IHC bench issued the notice to NAB Chairman.

On August 15, IHC also rejected NAB’s plea to adjourn the hearing for 2 days of Nawaz Sharif’s petition against the Avenfield verdict. However, NAB officials are constantly asking more time to submit their arguments in Sahrif’s plea against the Avenfield Verdict.

The Avenfield Reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
