Imran Farooq Murder Case: Pakistan will request UK for Altaf Hussain custody

The government of Pakistan will formally request the United Kingdom for the custody of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain in Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

In Imran Farooq murder case, the Ministry of Interior has sent request for the custody of Altaf Hussain. However, the interior ministry sent the request to Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Later, the Foreign Ministry will forward the request to UK.

Ministry of Interior submitted the challan in Imran Farooq murder case. In addition, they also submitted Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report and related documents.


On September 16, 2010, Imran Farooq was stabbed to death outside his house in London. The case related to the Imran Farooq’s murder has been registered in the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) counter-terrorism wing. However, the founder of MQM is a wanted person in the case.
