Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari’s Candidacy Challenged


NAWABSHAH/LAHORE: An appeal was filed against nomination papers of Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari in Nawabshah and Lahore.

Nomination of Imran Khan from NA-131 Lahore was challenged by the Justice and Democratic Party. The returning officers has called on Imran to show up on 18th June on the issue.

Petitioners who submit appeal against Zardari’s candidacy said that he had evaded tax. They claimed that the former president had purchased agricultural land of 15,000 acres and didn’t pay tax for it. The appeal also said that Asif Ali Zardari had not paid water tax for using canal water.

On June 12, a petition was submit against nomination of PTI Chief from NA-243 in Karachi. The appeal was filed by a citizen named Wahab Baloch for Imran Khan’s involvement in Sita White Case.

During the hearing of the case Imran Khan’s lawyer, Ismail had appeared in court. He informed court that he needs time in the case as only the PTI Chief could answer the questions in the case. He added that Imran was in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah so time was required in the case.

To this the court adjourned the hearing till 19th June, after which the court will announce verdict. Scrutiny of Imran Khan’s nomination papers was also postponed till 19th June, which is also the last date for the process.

Outside court Imran’s legal counsel had said these were baseless allegations against the PTI Chief. He added that there was either a party behind this or the person was trying to get publicity.

Imran Khan has filed nomination from constituencies in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad and Mianwali.
