Imran Khan Disqualification: Justice Athar Minallah recuses from case


Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah recuses himself from Imran Khan disqualification case.

Athar Minallah, part of two member bench, recuses from Imran Khan disqualification case. The divisional bench is scheduled to hear the case under Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minallah. However, Justice Athar recused himself due to the conflict of interests.

A petition was filed by Abdul Wahab Baloch, member of Justice and Democratic party. He challenged the nomination papers of Imran Khan from NA-243 due to the Sita White case. Howeevr, Imran won the constituency during Pakistan Election 2018.

Justice Athar Minallah elaborated that in the past he was associated with chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said that it is a reason that he recused himself from the case.

Earlier, the new bench was formed as Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Aamer Farooq recused them from the Imran Khan disqualification case hearing. However, the matter of the bench has been referred to IHC chief justice once again.
