Islamabad: Interior secretary told the special court that Interpol rejected their request to arrest former president Pervez Musharraf.
According to interior secretary, Interpol rejected the request to arrest Pervez Musharraf. On August 20, Special Court summoned interior secretary over the non-arrest of former president. However, he is accused in a high treason case. PML-N filed the treason case against Pervez Musharraf over his imposition of extra-constitutional emergency.
Interior Secretary appeared before the bench comprising Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Justice Nazar Akbar and Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Justice Yawar Ali.
The interior secretary said that the legislature had moved toward Interpol to bring back Musharraf, be that as it may, they dismissed the demand. He said that Interpol authorities had said that the high treachery case falls under their legitimate ambit. To this, the court requested that the interior secretary present Interpol’s answer. The interior secretary accordingly said he will submit it today.
Further, Justice Yawar addressed if Musharraf’s announcement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code (342CrPc) for the situation can be recorded through Skype. He further inquired that can the examination push ahead without the announcement under 342CrPc for the situation.
Deferring the case till September 10, the court requested that amid the following hearing contentions be given about whether Pervez Musharraf’s announcement can be recorded through Skype or the examinations can push ahead without it.
