Investigative journalist Iqrar ul Hassan has officially entered politics, bringing his own party, the Pakistan Awaam Raaj Tehreek at the Lahore Press Club. By declaring never to take office, he seeks to abolish dynasty politics and put power in the hands of the ordinary man. This movement is an indication of the transition of journalism to a grass-roots fight towards a truly democratic Pakistan.
The political landscape changed on January 15, 2026. The face of Sar-e-Aam, Iqrar ul Hassan came out at the Lahore Press Club to defy the status quo. The new party name of Iqrar ul hassan was announced as Pakistan Awaam Raaj Tehreek (PART). This action is an indication that his career as an inactive spectator is over and a mission to put back power in the hands of the people is set to begin.

On the press conference, the flag of the party of Iqrar ul Hassan was unveiled. The flag is vividly red in color and this symbolizes the struggle and the task of the working classes. This movement is concerned with the “People’s Rule; unlike the traditional parties. Iqrar made it clear that the time of the political and military elites has to cease. According to him, Pakistan has experienced different forms of regimes be it military or dynastic but has not experienced a real Awaam Raaj.
The Oath: No Personal Power for the Founder
The most striking moment of the Iqrar ul Hassan-launched political party event was his personal pledge. He swore a solemn oath by Allah and the Prophet (PBUH) that he would never accept a government position or a party office.
