Karachi is gearing up for a major protest today as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) takes to the streets against rising power bills and other issues. The protest, initially planned for yesterday, was postponed due to the sad news of the Hamas leader’s death.
JI leaders are furious over high electricity costs and deals with power companies. They say ordinary people are suffering while big companies are making huge profits. The party wants the government to cancel these deals and reduce taxes.
Thousands of people are expected to join the protest, starting from Khizra Mosque and marching towards the Governor House. This could cause major traffic jams in the city.
JI chief Munem Zafar has called on everyone to join the protest. He says the government is not listening to the people’s problems and it’s time to stand up and be heard.
