ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk has taken his oath as the caretaker PM of Pakistan in a ceremony held at President House.
Interim Prime Minister, Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk has taken his oath in a ceremony. The oath was administered by President Mamnoon Hussain at President House. Justice (r) Mulk is the seventh caretaker Prime Minister of the state of Pakistan.
Chairman Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani, Deputy Chairperson and other politicians were in attendance at the ceremony.
The Federal Government finished its five year constitutional term late Thursday night. The National Assembly was also dissolved late Thursday. Caretaker Government will now take be taking over the affairs of the country in absence of an democratically elected Government.
One of the crucial tasks for the caretaker setup is to conduct free and fair general elections. After the elections the caretaker government will give over the reigns of the country to the elected party.
Another task for the caretaker setup is to run the country’s state of affairs.
Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk was decided as the caretaker PM after several meetings by Khursheed Shah and outgoing PM Khaqan Abbasi. Justice (r) Mulk has also held the office of Chief of Justice of Pakistan and served for a year in that capacity. He has also been appointed acting Chief Election Commissioner while being a judge of Supreme Court.
