Moonis Alvi removed from his position as K-Electric CEO following a harassment case filed by former Chief Marketing Consultant Mehreen Zehra. Moonis Alvi case ruling came from the Sindh Provincial Ombudsman, Justice (Retd.) Shahnawaz Tariq, under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act.
Based on the ruling, Zehra claimed that Alvi harassed and psychologically tormented her at work in 2019. Ombudsman believed the allegations to be true, and he directed that the services of Alvi be terminated forthwith. A fine of 2.5 million has also been imposed on him, which he is to pay to the complainant within a period of 1 month. The non-compliance will result in the impounding of his property and his CNIC and passport being blocked.
In his response, Moonis Alvi called the verdict “deeply distressing” and rejected the findings as unrepresentative of his version of events. He confirmed that he will challenge the decision through legal channels after consulting his legal counsel. Alvi also reaffirmed his commitment to workplace ethics and stated he will continue to seek justice.
The timing of the case added weight to the case. Moonis Alvi reappointed as K-Electric CEO on July 7, 2025, and the effective from July 30, only a day before the ruling of the Ombudsman.
