K-Electric (KE), the main electricity provider for the city, has announced an extension for bill payments for July and August. This move follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent directive to extend the payment deadline by 10 days, providing much-needed relief to residents facing financial strain.
Consumers now have until August 10 to pay their July bills without a late fee. For those who miss this deadline, the late payment surcharge will be adjusted in the following month’s bill. This extension means that for the upcoming billing cycle, KE customers will have until September 10 to settle their August bills.
This decision came after the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Energy to extend the payment deadlines, due to the high electricity bills putting pressure on consumers. The Power Division has implemented this directive across all power distribution companies, including KE.
The new deadlines offer a one-month extension for both July and August bills. For example, if a July bill was originally due on August 7, it is now extended to August 17. Similarly, August bills, which were due in early September, will now be payable until September 17. This change ensures a consistent one-month interval between payment due dates, aiming to ease the financial burden on consumers.
