Karachi is currently in the grip of a relentless heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar even higher. Meteorologist Jawad Memon reported that yesterday, the maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 40.2°C. Today, the mercury could rise to between 38 and 40°C.
The high humidity in the air is exacerbating the heat, making it feel like 42°C. In coastal areas such as Korangi, Defense, and Clifton, the temperature could feel as high as 45 to 46°C. Unfortunately, there is no respite in sight as the meteorologist indicated that there is no forecast for rain in Karachi for the next 5 to 7 days.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has confirmed that today’s weather in Karachi will remain hot and humid. Currently, southwesterly winds are blowing through the city at a speed of 19 km/h, with a humidity level of 69%.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to stay cool and safe during this intense heatwave.
