In a recent development, Ameer of Karachi’s Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has raised serious allegations against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) regarding electoral malpractices during the general elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman highlighted the challenges faced by the people of Karachi during the electoral process. He emphasized that the suspension of internet and phone services by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Interior created confusion among the electorate, significantly hampering the polling process.
Expressing concern over delayed polling at numerous stations despite the Election Commission’s year-long preparations, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman pointed fingers at the MQM for attempting to manipulate the election outcome. He alleged that the party orchestrated disturbances in the city, aiming to sway the results in its favor.
Despite these challenges, Karachi witnessed a commendable voter turnout, indicating the populace’s commitment to participating in the democratic process.
Furthermore, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman criticized the perceived inaction of law enforcement agencies in preventing MQM’s interference in the polling stations, suggesting a lapse in security protocols.
The allegations put forth by the JI leader have ignited concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in Karachi, raising pertinent questions about transparency and fairness.
This development underscores the need for thorough investigations into electoral practices and the maintenance of uninterrupted communication services to ensure a smooth and transparent democratic process in the future.
