In an unexpected turn of events, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has come under fire from Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi. The JI leader has expressed his strong disapproval over the sudden gas load shedding in various parts of the city during the sacred month of Ramzan.
Rehman, on Wednesday, pointed out that the gas company’s inability to adhere to its own load shedding schedule is a significant failure. He highlighted that the abrupt suspension of gas supply has caused considerable inconvenience and distress to numerous consumers. Despite assurances of uninterrupted gas supply during Sehri and Iftari times throughout Ramzan, the SSGCL’s service fell short on the very first day of the holy month.
The JI leader has urged both the government and the gas company to address this issue promptly. He emphasized that the residents of Karachi are already grappling with severe financial strains and adverse conditions due to ineffective governmental policies. The current situation has only exacerbated these challenges.
This incident underscores the urgent need for reliable public utilities and effective governance, particularly during times of religious observance. As the holy month of Ramzan continues, the people of Karachi await a swift resolution to this pressing issue.
