Karachi on Alert for More Rain After Recent Downpours

Karachi, Pakistan’s bustling metropolis, is on high alert as the Meteorological Department issues a cautionary note for potential rainfall in the coming days. This comes in the wake of recent inundation that submerged key areas of the city following relentless showers.

After a brief respite, the chilly weather has made a comeback, exacerbating the situation caused by the recent downpour. Streets turned into rivers, disrupting daily life and leaving major arteries waterlogged.

Weather Alert: More Rain Expected in Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh advisory indicating predominantly cold and partly cloudy weather across most districts of the southeastern province. Residents are advised to expect drizzles in Karachi and its environs during the evening and night hours on Tuesday.

Karachi Temperature Update:

Temperatures are expected to range from 17°C to 25°C on Tuesday, with winds blowing at 6km/h and humidity levels surpassing 50 percent. The maximum UV Index has been recorded at a moderate level.

Air Quality Concerns in Karachi:

Despite efforts to mitigate pollution, Karachi’s air quality index has soared to over 177, marking it as ‘Very Unhealthy’. Experts warn that prolonged exposure could lead to health issues, particularly for sensitive groups. Residents are urged to minimize outdoor activities if experiencing symptoms like breathing difficulties or throat irritation.

Nationwide Weather Outlook:

Elsewhere in the country, continental air prevails over most regions. A shallow westerly wave is anticipated to impact northeastern parts of Balochistan and southern Punjab within the next 24 hours.

While the majority of the country is expected to experience cold and dry conditions, the northern regions are likely to face very cold temperatures. Isolated areas in northeast Balochistan and southern Punjab may also witness rain, wind, and thunderstorms during the evening and night periods.
