Karachi police have finalized comprehensive Muharram security arrangements across the city ahead of the First Islamic month’s commencement. A high-level meeting was chaired by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office Karachi to oversee preparations for processions, majalis, and religious gatherings.
The meeting included Additional IG Karachi, DIGs from Security and Emergency Units, Special Branch officials, SSPs, and key Shia scholars and community representatives. The Additional IG Karachi briefed attendees that security plans have been finalized in all districts. Police personnel have already been deployed at imambargahs, mosques, procession routes, and other religious sites. Each district has designated a focal person of inspector rank to maintain direct coordination with Shia organizations.
A Central Muharram Operation Room has been established and will be fully operational from June 25, running 24/7 in three shifts until the 13th of Muharram. This unit will ensure real-time response, intelligence sharing, and province-wide monitoring. It will also coordinate with the Command & Control Center and Safe City networks for integrated surveillance and reporting.
Meanwhile, the Muharram moon sighting in Pakistan 2025 is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2025. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Quetta under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
