In a noteworthy development, Karachi People Bus Service poised to enhance its fleet with the acquisition of 30 new buses, offering much-needed relief to the city’s commuters.
The breakthrough occurred as the Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir, personally intervened to expedite the release of funds by the Accountant General, Sindh, dedicated to the procurement of the new buses.
With the funds now secured, the transport department has assigned the crucial task of promptly settling customs duties, a directive underscored by the Sindh Chief Minister. In a clear instruction, the CM urged the transport department to ensure swift payments, thereby facilitating the timely release of the buses from the port within a week.
Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, CM Baqir stressed the swift deployment of the newly ordered buses from China onto Karachi’s roads, stating, “The buses ordered from China should brought on the roads as soon as possible.”
Justice (R) Baqir also unveiled plans to engage with the federal government, seeking approval for the BRT Red Line Corridor from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
The addition of these buses marks a positive stride toward enhancing public transit in Karachi, promising a more efficient and convenient commuting experience for the city’s residents.
