Karachi is bracing for heavy rainfall today as a powerful new monsoon system approaches the city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Thursday. The system, located 290 kilometers from Karachi, is expected to bring significant downpours between 2 PM and 8 PM, raising concerns about potential urban flooding.
This morning, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C, accompanied by high humidity levels of 90%. As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to climb to around 30°C. However, the city’s weather conditions are likely to take a dramatic turn as the monsoon system intensifies.
PMD Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has issued a warning about the possibility of urban flooding in the port city, emphasizing the need for caution. He further indicated that wind thunderstorms could accompany the rainfall, with scattered heavy to isolated very heavy falls expected in various parts of the city. Karachi residents are advised to stay vigilant as the weather unfolds.
