In the midst of scorching dry heat and occasional heatwaves, Karachi just went through its hottest July night since 2021.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) tells us that in July 2021 and 2022, temperatures typically stayed around 31°C. But last night? Well, it didn’t dip below 32°C, marking a significant rise.
Last night’s temperature was a whopping 4.1°C above what we’d call normal.
Now, we’re all hoping for a break from this heat with those sea breezes coming in. The Met Office is saying the next day or so will stay hot and sticky, with temperatures ranging from 35°C to 37°C.
Looking forward, the PMD thinks our temperatures for July should average around 27.9°C.
Weather analyst Jawad Memon, says once those sea breezes return, we might see some clouds creeping in from the coast. And hey, there could even be a chance of a little drizzle here and there overnight or in the morning over the next few days.
Karachi, the big city in Sindh, has been feeling this heat lately. We did get a bit of relief with a short spell of rain, but it didn’t last long.
While we’re not expecting any rain today, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz thinks we might start seeing those monsoon showers kicking in after July 8.
