The Sindh Government has launched the much-needed Peoples Bus Service (PBS) in Karachi, providing a reliable public transit solution. The fleet comprises Red Buses, White Electric Vehicles (EVs), and Pink Buses dedicated to female passengers. These buses cover eight major routes, connecting residential hubs with industrial and business centers across the city.
Key Features of the Red Bus Service
- Centralized Air-Conditioning: Ensures a comfortable ride for passengers.
- Seating and Standing Capacity: Each bus can seat around 40 passengers and accommodate an additional 40 standing passengers.
- Dedicated Spaces: Special sections for women and standing passengers.
- Fixed Fare: PKR 50 per person per ride, except for Route 9 which charges PKR 100 beyond Malir Halt.

- Route 1: Model Colony to Dockyard (28 km)

- Route 2: North Karachi to Indus Hospital (30 km)

In addition to the Red Buses, the PBS fleet includes electric vehicles for a more eco-friendly option:

- EV-2: Bahria Town to Malir Halt (30 km)
- EV-3: Malir Cantt Check Post 5 to Numaish (20 km)
All EV routes have a fixed fare of PKR 100 per ride.
Pink Buses for Women
The Pink Bus Service caters exclusively to women, operating on Routes R-1, R-2, and R-10 during peak hours. These buses provide a safe and comfortable travel option for female passengers.
Future Expansions
In the second phase, the service will expand to include a total of 360 buses operating on ten routes throughout Karachi, further improving the public transit network in the city.
