Karachi residents should prepare for a major freeze. After the city’s first winter rain, the Pakistan Meteorological Department warns of a sharp temperature drop. Icy Siberian winds will arrive by January 4, potentially pushing the mercury into single digits. Dust off your warm clothes now as the real winter finally hits the port city.
First winter rain finally arrived in Karachi on Wednesday, 31st Dec, 2025. Data shows Keamari received the most water, measuring 6 millimeters. Areas like Saddar, DHA, and North Nazimabad also saw light showers that instantly cooled the air.
The rain system has now moved eastward, leaving behind partly cloudy skies. While you might see some light drizzle today, the widespread rain is over. However, the “westerly wave” that started on December 29 is paving the way for something much colder.
Siberian Winds to Hit Karachi on January 4
Met officials say a cold wave from Quetta and Siberia will soon grip the city. These Siberian winds are expected to reach around January 4 or 5. Once they arrive, the Karachi weather forecast predicts a significant chill. We could see temperatures drop to single digits for the first time this season.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department warns that these northern winds will make the cold feel much sharper. If you haven’t taken out your heavy jackets yet, this weekend is the time to do it. The city is transitioning from pleasant drizzle to an intense winter spell. Stay updated with the latest Karachi rain update and temperature alerts to stay safe and warm.
